Welcome to Maythefactsbewithyou!

As you may have guessed from the title of this blog, I’m a Star Wars fan.  And while there are Star Wars themes sprinkled throughout the blog, you don’t have to be a Star Wars fan to understand any topic here. This is just my edutaining take on things.

The Star Wars themes can be found in the categories. So, let me explain:

1.Future Settlers? – One of my major concerns with our increasingly sophisticated technologies is the impact of today’s advanced technologies on employment. How will we define work? Will we have a future of leisure? Or, will we scrape by, unemployed and destitute, eeking out a living like the settlers on Tatooine?

2.New Realities – I’ll never forget the first time I saw Star Wars. The opening of the movie was awesome. Today, when I put on my Virtual Reality (VR) goggles, I find myself in that same sense of awe. VR is mind-blowing. Its application will be profound and I want to keep an eye on what’s happening in this industry.

3.Robot Nation – Star Wars gave us R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8. We can’t imagine the story without the droids and robots. Now we’re witnessing the rise of our own droids and robots. Some even call this time we’re living in the “Robot Economy”. What does this mean for us…humans?

4.The Brain Invaders – Darth Vader lost his humanity and became more machine-like. Will we follow in his path if we merge with the machines? How will we evolve or devolve? I want to know what’s going on with our three pounds of ooze.

5.The Data Federation – The galaxy had its Trade Federation. We have what I’ll call our ‘Data Federation’. What’s being done with the collection of all our data? Who owns it? What can be done? Can we really opt out? We need to know.

6.The Force of AI– The Force, an energy field, created by all living things, was used for good and evil. Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere. Does it “surrounds” us? Will we be good stewards of AI?  Heck, will we even survive?

Come along with me on this journey to learn how our lives will be changed…forever!
